Organ Donation Awareness Program held for NCC Cadets at Vayusena Ground, Nagpur

  • On 1st September  2021 MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation was invited at 20 MAH Bn NCC Unit, Seminary Hill, Nagpur  to help organise Organ Donation Awareness session at Vayusena Ground,Nagpur. The program was organised by Commanding Officer of NCC Unit Col. Amodh Chandna for the members of NCC Unit and Cadets.

    The program was inaugurated by Col. Amodh Chandna and Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur). Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation, explained the concepts of organ and tissue donation, types of death viz. cardiac and brain death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated on the procedure for bone donation, which was a new topic for the participants. She also explained to the group how donation of skin and eyes can happen even at the residence after the persons’ demise. Informative flyers were also distributed to the public. Ms Prarthana described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet.

    About 360 participants including NCC Cadets attended session and about 48 pledged to become Organ Donors. MOHAN Foundation thanks Col. Amodh Chandna for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
