MOHAN Foundation in collaboration with The Second Chance Project organised an organ donation awareness information desk at the Global Goals World Cup Mumbai 2019 on February 2, 2019 at the Father Agnel Multipurpose School, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The goal was to leverage the universal power of soccer and women to excite and unite, and to direct that power towards realizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The event was a great success and saw active participation of the teams. While the Forca Goa team won the Global Goals World Cup Mumbai 2019, some of the other teams present in the event were Mission San Scar ‘Save The Children India’, Antarang Foundation, Myna Mahila Foundation, Pinkathon, Magic Bus Foundation, PIFA Foundation. The event was organized by The Sustainable Mindz and saw participation of over 21 all women teams with the presence of an audience of around 700 individuals, who want to create a positive impact in the society.
The Second Chance Project and MOHAN Foundation supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, since we believe that each individual has the right to good and sound health, particularly with respect to the cause of organ donation. Mrs. Jigisha Yadav represented MOHAN Foundation, while Ms. Radhika Joshi represented The Second Chance Project.
Mrs. Jigisha Yadav shared about MOHAN Foundation mission andobjectives and started explaining about the concept of organ donation. She explained the differencebetween Cardiac Death and Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs and tissues thatcan be donated in both the cases to the visitors visiting the desk. A large number of individuals visited our desk to know more about organ donation, and we successfully explained them about it, while clearing all the doubts that they had in mind about the same. Interested individuals also registered as organ donors, and we issued them their organ donor cards.
