On July 15, 2025, the Division of Organ Transplantation, AIIMS Rishikesh, in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation and Mother’s Miracle School, Rishikesh, organised a special event to commemorate Harela Parv and Organ Donation Month under the national campaign “Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevni Abhiyan” initiated by the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
The initiative aimed to integrate environmental conservation with organ donation awareness and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and medical professionals.
The event focused on raising awareness about environmental sustainability and the life-saving impact of organ donation. A tree plantation drive was held, and the medical faculty of AIIMS Rishikesh was felicitated for their contributions. The event was led by Prof. Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Rishikesh.
Addressing the students, Prof. Meenu Singh said, “Greening the earth and giving the gift of life through organ donation are both noble acts of service to humanity.”
Mrs. Bindal, Director, Mother’s Miracle School, thanked the dignitaries and remarked that the event beautifully connected two life-giving messages: planting trees and organ donation.
As part of the “Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevni Abhiyan”, Dr. Ankur Mittal, Head, Department of Urology, explained the process of organ donation and transplantation. He encouraged students to understand its importance and motivated them to contribute to this selfless cause.
In a symbolic gesture signifying life and service to humanity, students presented potted plants to the heads of various departments, capturing the message: “As the plant grows, so does the hope for life.”
To facilitate pledging, QR code scanners were affixed to each potted plant, enabling attendees to conveniently scan and fill out the organ donation pledge form.
The event concluded with a strong sense of commitment and inspiration among all participants, reinforcing the values of environmental stewardship and the gift of life through organ donation.
Close to 35 participants attended the event.
