NSS volunteers of KNM Govt College learn the value of blood and organ donation

  • On 23rd December 2013, Mrithasanjeevani was invited to conduct an organ donation awareness programme for students as the part of a seven day NSS annual camp at Oolenpara mental health hospital, Peroorkkada, Trivandruman.

     

    It was organized by National Service Society (NSS) volunteers of KNM Govt: Arts and science college, Kanjiramkulam, Trivandum. The students gathered at the Hospital ground for the session. The programme started with the Blood donation awareness class conducted by Mr. K. P. Rajagopalan, General Secretary, Kerala Blood Donors Society (KEBS). Mr. Brahmanayakam Mahadevan, State NSS youth convenor, delivered a talk on life value and human culture.

     

     Mr. Aneesh P. V. Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala explained the following to the NSS students:

    • Mrithasanjeevani
    • Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS)
    • Organ donation concepts
    • What is brain death?                                          
    • What is coma?
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Organ allocation.

     

     

    More than 50 students attended the session and all supported the noble cause by picking up the donor card and the NSS volunteers said that they will spread the awareness on organ donation and tissue donation to the community.
