Ms. Jaya Jairam was invited to conduct a webinar on organ donation on the 17th August 2021, by K.J Somaiya College, for its Medical students as well as for the NSS units of its nursing college.
Ms. Jaya Jairam covered various concepts of organ donation, including the need, importance, what can be donated and by whom, and why one should support deceased organ donation. She also shared as to how India's organ donation rate is abysmal and is one of the poorest rates in the world. She went on to discuss the reasons for the same and what can be done to change the scenario. She also invited the students to get involved and support the cause by pledging their own organs and discussing the wish with their loved ones. She also shared details of volunteering and internship opportunities.
