Ms. Jaya Jairam Invited by Blue Circle Diabetes Foundation to Speak on Myths and Facts of Organ Donation

  • On May 11, 2025 Blue Circle Diabetes Foundation hosted a thought-provoking Facebook Live workshop on “Organ Transplants: Myths & Facts”, featuring Ms. Jaya Jairam, Project Director at MOHAN Foundation and a kidney transplant recipient. Drawing from her personal experience, Ms. Jaya shared practical insights into kidney failure, types of dialysis, and the medical definition of brain death, explaining that brain death is the irreversible cessation of all brain activity, even if the heart is still beating.

    She debunked common myths surrounding organ donation, highlighted the importance of post-transplant care, and encouraged families to talk openly about donation wishes. Ms. Jaya also suggested that people use their birthdays as a reminder to get regular health check-ups. Her impactful message — “If it’s okay to receive, it should be okay to give” — resonated deeply with viewers. The session concluded with a powerful reminder that Anybody Can Donate (ABCD), urging everyone to be part of this life-saving movement. Around 45 people attended the session.
