Motivating Talk on Organ Donation for School & College Students in NCC Camp

  • On 22nd July 2015, Tamilnadu NCC Battalion A, Chennai initiated a sensitization programme for their cadets. The programme was held at Bharathi University, Tambaram. Fr. Samuel Raj HOD requested MOHAN Foundation to enlighten their students on organ donation. Mr. Prakash K. & Ms. AT Sunitha, Transplant Coordinators facilitated the programme.

    Mr. Prakash K. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation. The following topics were covered during the talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme

     

    Soon after the talk the transplant coordinators distributed the information brochures to all school students and showed a short film on organ donation. Totally 650 students and NCC staff attended the talk.
