Mass awareness program for girl students conducted at Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women

  • On 31th July 2014, Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women, Anna Nagar, Chennai conducted an awareness programme for their college students on Organ Donation and Ms. Latha, Asst professor invited MOHAN Foundation  to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation.

    The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. K. P. Malathi Shiri, the Principal; she explained the importance of event and mentioned that every year they are conducting the event as part of motivation. So they wanted to promote the noble cause and Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation facilitated and spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

    The following topics were covered in the presentation:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
    • Helpline Number

    Soon after the talk the Transplant Coordinator showed several documentary films on organ donation. Totally 800 students from 2rd & 3rd year participated in the session and all them picked up donor card. At the end of the programme Ms. Latha gave a vote of thanks and the principal requested MOHAN Foundation to conduct two more sessions in the college.
