Mass Awareness Drive on Organ Donation for NCC cadets and NCC staff at Nazarathpet, Kancheepuram

  • National Cadets Corp of Group A, invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation to their young cadets. The talk was organized at A3 Tamil Nadu Battalion, Nazarethpet, Kancheepuram on 18.02.2015. The event was organized by commando Murali and it was a part of their 10 days camp. By talking to them about organ donation, the NCC aimed at motivating them towards selfless service.

     

    Mr.  Jeyabal, Transplant Coordinator and Ms.  Kavitha. S, Marketing Coordinator, were deputed from MOHAN Foundation. Nearly 400 cadets from class 8th to 10th were present during the talk.  Ms. Kavitha started the session by asking few question related to Organ Donation and how to keep the organ healthy. The cadets actively participated and answered the all the questions.

     

    Following that she spoke on who can donate, what organ can be donated, when they can be donated, how to pledge for Organ donation, when an individual can pledge  to donate their organs.  The session lasted for more than one hour.

     

    The cadets raised many questions like:

    1. Whether a short sighted person can donate his organs?
    2. In a movie, it was shown that a lady’s organ was given to another person by submitting false document, Is that act was right or wrong?
    3. Whether transplanted organs can be donated?

    All questions were answered by the coordinators. At the end, the cadets who answered the quiz  set by Ms Kavitha were awarded with small mementoes by MOHAN Foundation team  and information brochures were distributed.

     

    After this event the MOHAN Foundation staff interacted with the NCC staff at the camp. Many of the staff members came with their queries about organ donation and facilities for donation and transplantation. Nearly 30 NCC staff at the camp  were addressed and 25 of them picked a donor card.
