MOHAN Foundation set up an information desk on organ donation at the Community Health Centre, Lilong Haoreibi, Manipur.

  • On February 3, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited to the 4th round of the Health Camp held at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Lilong Haoreibi, Manipur, which was jointly conducted in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator, represented MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The programme included health check-ups, laboratory testing, the distribution of medicines, and raising awareness about organ donation. The Medical Officer in Charge of the CHC coordinated the team and made the necessary arrangements for the programme.

     

    An information desk for organ donation was set up where frequently asked questions (FAQs) on organ donation were displayed and distributed. A few one-to-one interactions were also held with the citizens visiting the centre.

     

    The team members of MF spoke on organ donation, its importance, and social responsibilities. They also explained the organs and tissues that can be donated in cases of circulatory and brain death. The story of deceased organ donations in Manipur was highlighted during the interaction. They also summarised the urgent need in this field, encouraging the public to take the call after discussion with family, friends, and colleagues.

     

    Close to 35 participants interacted with the team members of MF.
