  On 30th April 2023, organ donation awareness talk was conducted by Mr. Jagdish Borude, transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation at Jain Social work group, Sejal World, Khed, Pune. Mr Jagdish had been invited as Guest Speaker to deliver a lecture on "organ donation" at Sejal World, Jain Social work group, Khed, Pune. The talk was organised with the help of Mr Bipin Sanghavi President, Jain Social work group .The aim of this talk was to inform general public about organ donation and to make them understand importance of organ donation. Mr. Jagdish introduced MOHAN Foundation and its role in organ donation and its activities. Mr Jagdish then elaborated organ and body donation and basic concepts in organ donation. The talk given by Mr Jagdish was interactive in nature.

  He then discussed the following topics on organ and body donation:

  • Concept of organ donation and tissue donation
  • Concept and definition of Brain death
  • Types of death- Brain death and cardiac death
  • Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
  • Why organ donation is important in India?
  • How one can save lives of 8 people
  • Body donation and its importance.

  Participants had myths about following during interactive session:

  • Kidneys are sold illegally
  • Kidneys are sold during COVID time.
  • Brain death is possible at home and organs can be donated with person dies at home.

  The motive of the session was to inform and sensitize them about organ and body donation. There were approximately 80 people attended the organ donation awareness talk. At the end of talk, Mr Bipin Sanghavi felicitated Mr Jagdish Borude and gave a vote of thanks.
