MOHAN Foundation invited to conduct an Awareness Session at Bhashyam Blooms School, Uppal branch

  • On 16th February 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an interactive session on organ donation to the high school students of Bhashyam Blooms School, Uppal branch, Telangana. The session was conducted in association with Ms.  Salomi-the principal of the school who approached MOHAN Foundation for an awareness session at their school campus. Ms. Srividya Subramanian was the key speaker.

    Ms. Srividya.S started the session by asking a few introductory questions on Organ Donation and then introduced MOHAN Foundation to the participants and kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The following were discussed in detail:

    • Organ donation and its need in the society
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • Transplant waiting list in India
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Eye donation

    The students were enthusiastic and posed several questions. To name a few

    • Can spinal cord be donated
    • Which are the organs which can’t be donated
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Why can’t a cardiac arrest patient donate organs
    • Xenotransplantation and it’s future
    • How does hand transplantation occur

    Close to 50 students were present in the session. Live life varun size and celebrate life videos were played to motivate the students. The students made a few charts depicting organ donation and enthusiastically contributed to the discussions
