MOHAN Foundation invited to attend the World Kidney Day 2022 Celebration organized by NOTTO

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited for the celebration of World Kidney Day 2022 organised by National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) in collaboration with Department of Urology, Robotics and Renal Transplant, Safdarjung Hospital (SJH) & Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), New Delhi.

     

    Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar, DGHS, MoHFW, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries and speakers who were invited were Dr. S.V. Arya, Medical Superintendent, VMMC & SJH; Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar, Prof & HoD Urology Department, Nodal officer of Renal Transplant, SJH; Dr. Himanshu Verma, Prof. & HoD Nephrology Department, SJH; Dr. Rajneesh Sahai, Director, NOTTO; Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal VMMC & SJH. Ms. Pallavi Kumar (Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation NCR) along with Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi (Programme Manager, MOHAN Foundation NCR) & Ms. Sachi Gupta (Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation NCR) were the other invitees who attended the event.

     

    The programme started with a welcome address by Dr. S. V. Arya, followed by Saraswati Vandana and the dignitaries lighting the lamp. Dr. Anup Kumar gave an orientation on Kidney Day, in which he discussed:

    • Stages of CKD
    • Anastomoses of the kidney
    • Robotic Kidney Transplant
    • Organ Shortage
    • Case Study

     

    Dr. Kiran Senior CMO HAG, NOTTO representative spoke on Kidney disease and NOTTO perspective followed by address by Dr. Rajneesh Sahai, Director NOTTO who discussed the activities of NOTTO for promotion of organ donation.

     

    Finally, the honourable chief guest, Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar in his address stressed on prevention of kidney diseases and importance of raising awareness about preventive behaviours, awareness about risk factors and awareness about how to live with a kidney disease.

     

    Dr. Geetika Khanna then presented the vote of thanks.

     

    In the end, the donor families were felicitated by the dignitaries with a memento, a certificate of appreciation and a priority card which is a unique initiative taken by Safdarjung Hospital. The card when shown by the donor family in the hospital will get priority treatment.

     

    Close to 130 people attended the event.
