MOHAN Foundation invited for a workshop on Mechanism for distribution of cadaveric organs by ZTCC MUMBAI

  • On 22nd December 2017, Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) Mumbai invited MOHAN Foundation to participate in a workshop organized by ZTCC Mumbai on the theme, “Mechanism for distribution of cadaveric organs” at Sion Hospital, Mumbai.

    Almost all transplant coordinators across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai region attended the workshop. 

    The programme included talks by-

    1. Dr.S K Mathur, VP and Gen. Sec, ZTCC Mumbai, on the History of MFCOT and ZTCC as well as the legal aspects of THOA 2011,
    2. Dr. Akash Shukla, HOD, Gastroenterology, Sion Hospital spoke on how to fill a form correctly while registering a patient according to the various criteria on the waiting list – Supra-urgent and Routine,
    3. Dr. Ravi Mohanka, Head, HPB Transplant Surgeon, Global Hospitals on Multi-visceral organ transplant and organ specific eligibility criteria attached to it,
    4. Ms. Urmila Mahajan, Consultant, ROTTO Mumbai spoke on the protocols pertaining to donor information and the distribution of organs,
    5. Dr. Bharat Shah, Head, Dept. of Nephrology, Global Hospitals spoke on donor suitability followed by
    6. Ms. Sujata Ashtekar, Consultant, ROTTO Mumbai who spoke on the achievements of ROTTO Mumbai since February 2017. 

    The session ended with a vote of thanks from Ms. Sangeeta Desai, newly appointed Admin and Coordinator, ZTCC Mumbai.
