On September 15, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Shija Hospital & Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt. Ltd., Langol, Imphal West, Manipur, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Outpatient Department (North Block) of the hospital. The programme was part of the ongoing outreach initiatives to promote deceased organ donation and transplantation.
The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, and coordinated by Ms. Sweety Moirangthem, Assistant Transplant Coordinator, SHRI.
Mr. Bidyananda introduced MOHAN Foundation and its vision of promoting ethical organ donation and transplantation across India. He explained organ failure and its social impact, types of organ donation, and organ viability after brain death. He also shared updates on the current status of organ donation in India and Manipur. Addressing myths and misconceptions with facts, he reassured participants that all religions support organ donation. He further emphasized the importance of pledging as a donor, the responsibilities it entails, and the significance of carrying a donor card.
Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed among the participants. The session was attended by around 60 individuals, who gained a deeper understanding of the life-saving potential of organ donation.
