  • On September 21, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Shankar Mahadevan Academy Trust and Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the Blind, presented “MERA SAPNA – Empowering Dreams with the Gift of Sight” at the Mysore Association Auditorium, Matunga. The event was supported by Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance under the Kotak Netradan project.

The evening celebrated the resilience and dreams of the visually impaired while spreading awareness on eye donation. Ms. Jaya opened the event with the Sanskrit shloka — असतो मा सद्गमय। तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय। मृत्योर् मा अमृतं गमय॥” — linking it beautifully to the theme: from darkness to light, from death to immortality through the gift of sight.

Dignitaries including Mr. Pawan Soni (Kotak Life Insurance), Ms. Varsha Jadhav (Kamla Mehta School), Ms. Suchitra Waithi (EBCRC Eye Bank), and Mr. Krishnan Sivaramakrishnan (Shankar Mahadevan Academy) inaugurated the event. A soulful prayer and a thought-provoking skit on eye donation by NSS students of Maharshi Dayanand College followed.

Mr. Krishnan shared how Mera Sapna was inspired by the dreams of visually impaired students—aspiring to be dancers, doctors, singers, army persons and more. The Kamla Mehta students then held placards depicting their dreams, moving the audience deeply.

Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar of MOHAN Foundation emceed the felicitation ceremony wherein Ms Jaya Jairam welcomed the dignitaries and they in turn felicitated Ms. Ayat, age 8, and Ms. Jayashree—two corneally blind recipients who regained sight. This was followed by Ms. Jaya’s presentation that urged everyone to pledge their eyes and spread awareness.

The students and teachers of Shankar Mahadevan Academy enthralled the audience with vibrant musical performances, concluding a powerful, hope-filled evening attended by over 350 participants.

MOHAN Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to all collaborators and NSS units from MD College, Somaiya College, Gurunanak College GTB Nagar, Gurunanak Khalsa College, and SIES College for their enthusiastic participation.
