MOHAN Foundation conducts five sessions on organ donation awareness at Willis Tower Watson, Mumbai

  • On 5th and 6th October, 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Bhavya Shetty, HR Official of Willis Tower Watson, Mumbai to conduct an awareness session on organ donation.

     

    Five sessions were conducted - two sessions at the iThink Techno Campus, one session at Ackruti, in Thane and two sessions at Vikhroli. Mrs. Jaya Jairam explained the process of Organ Donation - when, who, why and how it can be done. She then spoke about the transplantation procedure. She briefly focused on the need for organs, India’s organ donation rate, brain stem death, how to diagnose, certification and who can certify, cornea donation, skin donation, and the tissues that can be donated. She also touched upon some of the barriers and myths related to organ donation and explained the Laws and Entity of Maharashtra.

     

    Jaya presented the demand and supply gap of organs in our country, which justifies the need to donate organs. The talk also focused on the low organ donation rate of our country (0.50 pmp) which is less than 1 person per million population.

     

    The employees actively participated with a number of questions being asked and answered.

     

    About 47 employees registered their wishes and information brochures were distributed.

     

    At the last sessions the team of Willis Tower Watson felicitated MOHAN Foundation staff and thanked them for the informative and eye opening sessions.
