MOHAN Foundation conducts an organ donation awareness session at SAMLAS Hostel

    The following topics were explained in the programme:
    Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    Brain Death- how it is different from natural death and coma
    Causes of Brain Death
    The need for organ donation
    Who can donate organs and tissues
    Cornea Donation  
    Importance of the consent from the family 
    Difference between Brain death and Coma
    Importance of donor card
    Donor  card Registration 
    The participants raised several queries about organ sharing and allocation, where the organ donation will take place, whom to be contacted in case of emergency. The queries were answered by  Mr. Ashok R.  At the end of the session, 8 students showed their support for the cause by taking a Donor Card.   

    On 8th November, 2013, an awareness talk on Organ Donation was organised for the students staying at at SAMLAS Hostel. The session was conducted by Mr. Ashok R, Trainee Transplant Coordinator. A group of 15 students  attended the session and he aimed at sensitizing the participants about the importance of organ donation.
