  • On 1st October, 2013 MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at International College of Fashion and Finance, New Delhi. The session was organised as part of their Joy of Giving week.

International College of Fashion and Finance is one of the premiere institutes specializing in Business Administration and Fashion Designing with multiple programmes catering to over 250 students in both the streams.

Professor Gulbash Duggal, Academic Head and Dean of the Fashion vertical took the initiative of organizing this awareness session for the entire batch as well as for the faculty members. She was inspired by the Times of India campaign on organ donation. The event was well planned and posters were put up around the campus to encourage the students to attend the session and to pledge their organs by signing the donor card.

The talk was conducted by Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR. In her presentation she spoke about: brain death, India’s dismal organ donation rates and the need for organ donation.

There were many students who expressed that it was difficult to pledge ones organs even if one wished to because of the lack of organisations that can provide authentic information on the much ignored subject. There were a few students who came up to the representatives from MOHAN Foundation and narrated how they lost their loved ones due to the unavailability of organs.

Prof. Duggal and Ms. Priya Vij, a member of the faculty were particularly motivated in taking this forward and they requested the Foundation to hand them more cards which would be distributed in the following Joy of Giving week observed by the college.

Totally 155 students and faculty members participated in the session and around 130 donor cards were picked by.
