MOHAN Foundation conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at KLE Hospital, Belgaum

  • On 4th June 2019, Dr. Dareyappa Chougle, Incharge & Mr. Ravi Kiran, IT-Incharge, KLE Hospital, Belgaum invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness programme to the Non-Medical staff at the hospital.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Project Manager - Ms. Ranjini Shankar MS & Transplant Co-ordinators Ms. Hemavathi BN and Ms. Sheetal Mudada.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • Introduction about MOHAN Foundation
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Apnea Test
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • The Burden of Organ failure & need for organ donation
    • Importance of the Donor Card

    During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • Important of Time Factor in organ transplant
    • Importance of Ventilator
    • Brain Stem Death Certification Process
    • Necessary for Family Consent

    Around 25 members attended the programme. After understanding the organ donation facts, a few expressed their wish to pledge for organ donation.
