On 2nd October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was organized at the Department of Medical Records, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Puducherry. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Ananth. R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation – deputed at PIMS.
In his sessions he covered the following topics: types of donors; difference between natural death, brain death and coma; organs that can be donated; the number of hours the various organs can be preserved before transplantation; and the importance of the donor card.
Totally 17 staff members participated in the session and all of them picked up the donor card.
