As a continuation of the awareness campaign that was launched on January 4, 2024 the second session was conducted at JNIMS. Ms. Udayini, along with the principal from the participating institutions, coordinated the session. Participants in the session were the nursing students and the clinical teachers who accompanied them.

Ms. Monica opened the session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and its aims and objectives. Then, she briefed the participants about the scenario of organ donation and the ever-growing need for organ transplants due to the rise of organ failure.

Her talk focused on the following points:

    • A law enacted for transplantation

    • India’s organ donation rate

    • Brain death vs. circulatory death

    • Facts and myths about organ donation

    • Stories of deceased organ donations done at Manipur

    • Courses offered by the MOHAN Foundation

Afterwards, Ms. Udayini clarified why some people are reluctant to donate organs even though everyone is aware of the idea. She also gave a briefing on the MOHAN Foundation website's pledge procedure and the value of having conversations with family members.. Also, discussions were held with the participants, and a few queries were raised.

    To name a few:

    • How is it possible to donate skin?

    • Drugs are used in donor optimisation.

    • Is it possible to donate cornea in case of any disorder or disease of the eyes?

    • What is the process of donation if someone has pledged in India and becomes brain dead in some other country?

Thereafter, FAQs on organ donation were distributed to the participants for better understanding of the topic. The participants appreciated the team for providing an informative session.

Close to 74 participants attended the session, and all of them pledged to donate organs, including all the clinical tutors.
