Organ Donation Awareness at Chennai Institute of Technology

  • On January 05, 2024 Organ Donation Ambassador Ms Asfa Sultana Sher, (B.Tech Biotechnology) organized a session on Organ Donation and Transplantation, for the students of Biotechnology and ECE at Chennai Institute of Technology, Chennai. MOHAN Foundation was invited to create the awareness.

    The session commenced with a welcome note by Dr Ramesh A, Principal who welcomed the students and the guest speaker Mr Ganesh C, Marketing coordinator, MOHAN Foundation. Mr Ganesh, explained the concept of organ donation, brain death, how to get  a transplant, time factor, voluntary body, registering as donor. Ms Asfa took over the stage and spoke about the myths & facts on organ donation and the role played by Bioengineers in the field of organ donation.  During the session information brochures on organ donation were distributed to the students.

    The session ended with the students putting in words a note to the organ failure  patients. These notes were then pasted on a notice board. Around 240 students and staff participated and 24 pledged as organ donors. Other students extended their support by taking pictures with the slogan “I support organ donation” and posting it on their social media page. MOHAN Foundation extends its warm gratitude towards management CIT for the support and to Ms Asfa in organizing the event.
