On 29th October 2023, organ donation awareness talk was organised by Mr. Jagdish Borude, transplant coordinator at MOHAN foundation at Shrirampur in Ahmednagar, on the occasion of 50th birthday of Mr. Prasad Salve who is a Policeman The talk was coordinated by Ms. Pratibha Salve, his wife. The talk was organised on his 50th birthday.
The main aim of this program was to spread awareness and sensitise general Public about organ and body donation.
The talk was given on the importance of organ and body donation and how to increase organ donation rate at rural place.Also general information on organ donation centres at rural area was given.
Following topics were discussed on organ and body donation during interaction:
1.Concept of organ donation and tissue donation
2.Concept and definition of Brain death
3.Types of death- Brain death and cardiac death
4.Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
5.Why organ donation is important in India?
6.How one can save lives of 8 people
7.Body donation and it's importance.
8. Ischemic time of each organ and tissue
9. THOTA act 1994 and it's importance.
Following Questions were asked by people who came to pledge as an organ donor.
1.Is body handed to family after organ donation?
2.What is the age limit for organ donation ?
3.Can Hypertension and Diabetic patients donate organs?
4. Is organ donation happen when death happens at home?
The motive of the program was to create awareness for the general Public about organ and body donation.
There were 51 people took pledge as an organ donor and 110 people attended the session.
At the end of the program Mr Prasad Salve felicitated Mr Jagdish Borude for conductig the awareness session and initating this noble cause.
