On October 3, 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Mongshangei, Manipur. It was conducted in association with the Manipur Directorate of Health Services. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation attended the session as the key speakers of the programme.
Dr. Kimthang, District Nodal Officer, Ayushman Bhava campaign, Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Imphal-West District, Manipur contacted the MF team and coordinated for the same. The staffs of the HWC and the citizens of the area attended the programme.
The key elements of the programme were immunisation of children, awareness sessions on organ donation, sanitation, and nutrition.
Ms. Monica talked about the importance of organ donation and its social responsibilities. She also emphasized which organs and tissues can be donated in cases of circulatory and brain death. She highlighted the urgent need for passion in this field by describing the challenges that patients waiting for deceased donors face. She also stressed the importance of obtaining the family's consent to the participants.
Afterwards, a brief discussion was held, and frequently asked questions (FAQs) translated into the local language were distributed to the participants to help them better comprehend the topic.
Close to 30 peoples attended the programme.
