  On 26^th October 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the NSS Program Officer Mr. Kamal Jit to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS students at Kendriya Vidyalaya 3BRD Airforce station, Chandigarh. Approximately 50 students from class 12^th attended the session.

   

  Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is organ and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Neha Sharma.

   

  In this talk she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
  • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
  • Importance of the donor card
  • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

   

  A short informative film on brain death was also shown and the importance of family consent in the process of organ donation was explained to the students. The session was very interactive where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion.

   

  All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation. 20 Donor cards were distributed.
