MOHAN Foundation Conducts an Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Regional Transport Office. (R.T.O), Nagpur.

  • On 16 October 2015, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Powar, RTO officer, Nagpur branch to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving  license. 45 persons attended the session & 10 people  wanted to sign the consent form after discussing with their family.

    Mr.Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. He explained the following points:-

    • Meaning of Organ Donation
    • Importance of Organ Donation
    • Types of donations –Live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural death, Coma and Brain Death
    • Religious myths about Organ Donation
    • Tissue donation - Skin  and eye
    • Body donation
    • MOHAN Foundation activity

     

    It was a very interactive session. The participants raised queries about organ sharing and allocation, age limits for donating organs and tissues, whom to be contacted in case of emergency.

     

    The Participants asked the following questions:-

    How many organs can be donated from brain death patients?

    Is Commercial dealing allowed in organ donation?

    Whom to contact for organ donation?

    What is the age criteria for kidney donation?
