MOHAN Foundation was invited by Sri. Shravan Kumar, President of Telangana Eye, Organ, Body Donors Association to participate in the awareness session on eye, organ, and whole body donation awareness session at Karimnagar Press Club on 6th August 2015. This program was organized as a part of the organ donation week.
Dr. Koti Reddy explained the purpose, necessity, importance of deceased organ donation, concept of brain death, cultural and religious barriers, THO Act and myths related to organ donation and the role played by media in taking forward organ donation. Sri. Kola Anna Reddy spoke on the importance of eye donation and the success that Lion’s Club has achieved in the recent times in Karimnagar district.
There were about 200 participants that participated and all of them were distributed donor cards and information brochures. There was lot of interest seen among the participants and all of them reacted positively to the idea and have promised to spread awareness about organ donation in community. Many of the participants also registered for whole body donation.
We thank Sri. Shravan Kumar for inviting us for the awareness session and also thank all the participants for their support to this noble cause.
