On 6th December 2014, MOHAN Foundation Hyderabad was invited by Dr. Srinivas Reddy, Director of Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA) and Sri. Ramesh to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for the employees and volunteers of APSA.
Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA) is a community development organization working since 1981 to enhance the quality of life of urban poor in slums and especially children in slums by assisting in nutrition, economic empowerment, child care and professional training.
Dr. Koti Reddy clearly explained the purpose, necessity, importance, complex issues in deceased organ donation, concept of brain death, cultural and religious barriers, THO Act and myths related to organ donation.
There were about 50 employees and volunteers that were distributed donor cards and information brochures. The employees and volunteers positively reacted to the idea and have promised to spread awareness about organ donation in the future in the communities that they are engaged.
We thank Dr. Srinivas Reddy, Director, for his kind support and gracious presence at the awareness session and also the employees of APSA for their kind support in organizing the event for a noble cause.
