  • On February 11, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized a sensitization program for police personnel at Killa Police Station, Gomati, Tripura, to enhance awareness on organ donation and transplantation and to highlight the important role of police in the organ donation process.

MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project Lead – Tripura, and Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive.

Mr. Biswajit Debbarma, Organ Donation Ambassador of Tripura, who received training under MOHAN Foundation’s Angels of Change program in December 2025, supported the coordination and organization of the event.

The program began with a welcome address and brief introduction by Mr. Bikash Debbarma, Inspector and Officer-in-Charge of Killa Police Station. This was followed by a session led by Ms. Nipa, who introduced MOHAN Foundation and explained key aspects of organ donation, including the types of donation, eligibility to become a donor, brain death, coma, cornea donation, and statistics related to organ requirement in India. Mr. Vincent further highlighted the life-saving impact of organ donation and explained how a single donor can save multiple lives. The session focused on addressing common myths and misconceptions and encouraged participants to actively support and promote awareness of this noble cause.

Mr. Vincent also emphasized the crucial role played by the police, particularly in medico-legal cases where timely coordination and support are essential. He spoke about the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, and encouraged participants to read and understand its provisions to gain clarity on the legal framework established by the Government of India.

The step-by-step process of organ donation was explained in detail to ensure better understanding among the participants. Organ donation awareness leaflets were distributed to reinforce the key messages shared during the session.

Mr. Bikash Debbarma appreciated the initiative and stated that it is important for everyone to understand organ donation. He encouraged police personnel to share the message with their neighbours and communities. He also emphasized the importance of staying informed, as anyone may face health complications requiring organ transplantation, and such awareness can help support individuals suffering from organ failure.

The program was attended by 26 police personnel.
