On February 9, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.
The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, along with Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal. Students from the Nightingale Nursing Institute, Porompat, Imphal East, attended the session and actively participated in the awareness activities.
Ms. Priya provided a comprehensive overview of organ donation and underscored its life-saving significance. She explained the procedures involved in organ donation, highlighted the organs and tissues eligible for donation, and clarified the distinction between living and deceased donation. She also shared information on the ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation programmes in Manipur. In addition, she addressed prevalent myths and misconceptions and explained the difference between circulatory death and brain death, helping participants gain a clearer and more accurate understanding of the subject.
She encouraged attendees to pledge as organ donors and to inform their next of kin, ensuring that their wish to give the “Gift of Life” is honoured. Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) were distributed to reinforce the key messages shared during the session.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 30 attendees, who gained valuable insights into the significance and life-transforming impact of organ donation.
