On November 12, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Medicine Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.
The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Program Executive (Senior), along with Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executive, and Ms. Priya Moirangthem, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS Hospital.
Mr. Bidyananda introduced the concept of organ donation and its life-saving potential. He explained what organ donation involves, the organs and tissues that can be donated, and the difference between living and deceased donations. He also highlighted the ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation programs in Manipur. Additionally, he addressed common myths and misconceptions and clarified the difference between circulatory death and brain death to help participants gain a clearer understanding.
He encouraged attendees to pledge as organ donors and inform their next of kin to ensure their wish to give the “Gift of Life” is honoured. Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) were distributed to reinforce the key messages shared during the session.
The programme saw active participation from around 60 attendees who gained meaningful insights into the importance and life-transforming impact of organ donation.
