On January 5, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Eye Outpatient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education initiatives.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Programme Executive, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Programme Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
Ms. Priya Devi presented the fundamental concepts of organ donation and addressed key aspects, including the definition of organ donation, organs eligible for donation, and the distinction between living and deceased donation. She further elaborated on deceased organ donation, emphasising how organs retrieved from brain-dead individuals can save multiple lives and significantly enhance the quality of life of recipients.
At the conclusion of the session, participants were encouraged to consider registering as organ donors and were provided with informational pamphlets for further reference. Nearly 30 individuals attended the session and gained valuable insights into the life-transforming impact of organ donation.
