On October 17, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Outpatient Department (OPD) of JNIMS. The session aimed to promote awareness and dispel misconceptions surrounding organ donation among the public.
Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, represented MOHAN Foundation, Imphal, and led the awareness session. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS Hospital.
During the session, Mr. Bidyananda introduced the work and mission of MOHAN Foundation and explained the fundamentals of organ donation, addressing key questions such as “What is organ donation?” and “Which organs can be donated?” He elaborated on the differences between living and deceased donation, highlighted ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation activities in Manipur, and dispelled common myths through factual information. He also clarified the distinction between coma and brain death to help participants develop a clearer understanding of the process.
Emphasizing the life-saving and societal impact of organ donation, he encouraged participants to consider pledging as organ donors and explained the registration process. Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed to the attendees to enhance their understanding.
