On October 13, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt. Ltd., Langol, Imphal West, Manipur, organized an awareness session on organ donation at the Outpatient Department (North Block) of the hospital. The programme was part of the Foundation’s ongoing outreach initiatives to promote deceased organ donation and transplantation.
The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, and coordinated by Mr. Haobam Gunaremba, Transplant Coordinator at SHRI.
Mr. Bidyananda introduced MOHAN Foundation and its mission to promote ethical organ donation and transplantation across India. He discussed organ failure and its social implications, types of organ donation, and organ viability after brain death. He also shared updates on the current status of organ donation in India and Manipur. Addressing common myths and misconceptions, he clarified that all major religions support organ donation. He further highlighted the importance of pledging as an organ donor, the responsibilities associated with it, and the value of carrying a donor card.
Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed among the participants. The session was attended by around 100 individuals, who gained a deeper understanding of the life-saving impact of organ donation.
