MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for Fire Fighters at Fire Station Manimajra Chandigarh

  • On 11th April 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Station Fire Officer, Mr. Dassehru Singh at Fire Station Manimajra, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for Fire Fighters and Silent Workers (Guards). Around 25 participants attended the session. The session was organised by Mr. Parveen Kumar FireFighter, at Fire Station Manimajra Chandigarh.

    Participants were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Neha Sharma.

    She introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones). She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain-Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories.

    Ms. Neha Sharma discussed about Myths around Organ donation by explaining relevant facts. Lastly Ms Neha Sharma described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet.

     At the end, Ms. Neha Sharma gave the vote of thanks. Over all the session was very interactive where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussions asked many questions. Participants also shared their views about the cause. All of them pledged for Organ Donation.
