On March 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Mantripukhri, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive along with Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive MOHAN Foundation.
The session was organized in collaboration with Mr. Kiran, Program Head, Ayurveda, Yoga &
Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH).
Ms. Priya began the session by introducing the team and then provided an overview of the concept of organ donation. She explained the various organs and tissues that can be donated and clarified the distinction between living organ donation and deceased organ donation, enabling the participants to better understand both processes. During the session, she emphasized that many patients remain on waiting lists and depend on the generosity of donors for a second chance at life. She also informed the participants about the procedure for pledging organ donation and explained how the pledge system operates.
Furthermore, she clarified that even if an individual has registered as an organ donor, the consent of the family is still required for organ retrieval after death. She also highlighted that organ donation is supported by all religions, as no religion discourages helping or saving the life of another person. She concluded the session by encouraging the participants to view organ donation as a noble and meaningful act that can save lives and offer hope to those in need. Informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to the participants at the end of the session to reinforce the key messages shared during the discussion. Approximately 12 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into the significance of organ donation, the pledge process, and the urgent need for more organ donors.
