MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Senior Citizen Day Care Home, Ambala, Haryana

  • On 13thMarch 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Indian Red Cross Society-Ambala, Haryana to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their Junior Red Cross Counsellors at Senior Citizen Day Care Home-Ambala. Around 120 participants from various blocks of Haryana participated in the program.

    Mr. S. K. Dewan addressed the audience telling them about the importance of Organ Donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and saving lives of others. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 6 myths with 6 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating organs
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register with MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation's mission & vision

    Few questions were asked by the participants

    • What is body donation?
    • How much liver can be donated?

     

    The entire group got motivated and it was an interactive session. All the questions were answered and 60 donor cards were picked by the participants. In the end they showed great interest to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
