MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh - Session 228

  • On 9th February 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their First Aid Students at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh. Around 35 participants from various parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh College Students, Patient Care Attendants, Home Nursing, Nannies and Bus Conductors participated in the program.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 6 myths with 6 facts on organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation website
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. The participants were very excited during the presentation and contributed to the discussion. 15 Participants picked up the donor cards. They would love to share their wish with their families. Participants did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation.
