MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh - Session 139

  • On 26th November 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for Trainers and Lecturers at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh. Around 35 participants from various colleges of Punjab participated in the program.

     

    Mr. Santosh Kumar, State Training Supervisor addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

     

    Participants were given the presentation on organ donation and Brain Death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • Organ donation statistics in India
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation

     

    This was a very important program as these Trainers would further be imparting training in their local districts, including that on Organ Donation.

     

    After the talk participants asked a few questions and requested for Donor Cards.
