MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh

  • On 25th November 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Sectary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for the Faculty & Staff at Seminar Hall, Chandigarh. Around 30 participants attended the session. Chief Guest of this Program was Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna, Honourable Vice Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, New Delhi.

     

    At the beginning of the session, Mr. C.S Talwar , IAS Retd. Sectary–Cum-Chief Executive Punjab State Red Cross welcomed chief guest and all the participants gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation. He then invited Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna, Honourable Vice Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, New Delhi to say few words on Organ Donation.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

     

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 6 myths with 6 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. 20 Participants picked up the donor cards. They would love to share their wish with their families. At the end of the session, Mr. C.S Talwar, Sectary, Red Cross, Punjab said the session was very informative. MOHAN Foundation thanks the Red Cross for the opportunity.
