MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Chandigarh University, Kharar, Punjab

  • On 13th September 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Camp Director, Red Cross to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for the students of Standard First Aid Training Program. Around 90 Students from Chandigarh University participated in the Program.

    Mr. Santosh Kumar, Camp Director addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants and telling them how important is Organ Donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and saving lives of others.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    The entire group got motivated and was an interactive session all the questioned have been answered in the end of the presentation and 80 donor cards being picked by the participants. In the end they showed great interest and would love share their wish with their families.
