MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Mantripukhri UPHC, Imphal-East, Manipur

  • On September 9, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Mantripukhri Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) & Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The programme was coordinated by Mr. Kiran, Program Head of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), with active support from the UPHC staff.

     

    Mr. Bidyananda began the session with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation and its mission. He explained the concept of organ donation, the vital organs that can be donated, and the different types of donations. He also clarified the distinction between brain stem death and coma, addressed common misconceptions, and highlighted the importance of family consent in the donation process. Concluding his talk, he guided participants on how to pledge organ donation through the NOTTO website and emphasized the need to inform family members after making the pledge.

     

    Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to reinforce the key messages. Nearly 15 individuals, including children, attended the session and gained valuable insights into the life-saving impact of organ donation.
