MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Mantripukhri UPHC, Imphal-East, Manipur

  • On July 29, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Mantripukhri Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Organised as part of the observance of Organ Donation Month, the session was coordinated with Dr. Suranjoy, Medical Officer at Mantripukhri UPHC.

     

    Mr. Bidyananda Laishram opened the session with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation, its mission, and vision. He then provided key information on organ donation, including the vital organs and tissues that can be donated. He elaborated on the types of organ donation, clarified the difference between brain stem death and coma, and shared insights into the current status of organ donation in Manipur and across India. He also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and stressed the importance of pledging to become a donor.

     

    At the end of the session, informational pamphlets on organ donation—translated into the local language—were distributed to participants to support better understanding.

     

    Around 15 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into the life-saving potential of organ donation.
