Ms. Priya commenced the session by introducing the team and presenting the objectives of the program. She elaborated on the concept of organ and tissue donation, clearly distinguishing between living donation and deceased donation. Emphasizing the critical shortage of donors in Manipur, she highlighted the wide disparity between the growing demand for organs and tissues and their limited availability, primarily due to the low rate of deceased donations. She also emphasized that the buying and selling of organs and tissues is strictly prohibited and punishable under the law. In response to a participant’s query, Ms. Priya clearly explained the distinction between whole body donation and organ donation. She also addressed the various questions raised by the participants and clarified their doubts related to organ and tissue donation. Following the detailed explanations provided during the session, several participants reported a positive change in their understanding and perception of organ and tissue donation.
