On October 22, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation (MF), NCR, attended a prayer meeting in honour of an organ donor at the Hotel Holiday Inn, Mayur Vihar, Delhi. The invitation was extended by Mr. Ashish Gupta, a family member of the deceased and an Organ Donation Ambassador for MF. Representing the Foundation were Ms. Simran Anand and Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officers from MF, NCR.
The prayer meeting commemorated Mr. Telu Ram Garg, 94, who passed away from natural causes on October 13, 2024. In a generous act, his family donated his skin, coordinated by MOHAN Foundation with the Safdarjung Skin Bank, New Delhi.
This was the second case coordinated between MF and Mr. Ashish Gupta; in September, the MF NCR team had coordinated the donation of Mr. Rajendra Arya’s corneas and skin.
During the event, Ms. Anand provided an overview of eye and skin donation, and MOHAN Foundation presented a certificate to Mr. Garg's family in recognition of their generous contribution. One attendee shared her commitment to donating her corneas after her death and expressed an interest in becoming an organ donor.
Ms. Anand concluded her address by encouraging attendees to take pride in becoming organ donors and to pledge their support.
MOHAN Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Telu Ram Garg's family for their selfless act, with nearly 500 people attending the prayer meeting to honour his legacy.
