Kidney recipient plans to educate Indians on organ donation, Chennai

  • Mr. Lourd Vijay, a kidney recipient established Spreading Happiness Foundation to promote awareness on deceased organ donation. One of his first activities will be a nationwide rally beginning from Chennai to Bengaluru via Ladakh to educate people about the noble cause. This rally is supported by DaVita, in association with TANKER Foundation and MOHAN Foundation. Dr. Sunil Shroff, Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Mr. Siva Shankar and Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel of MOHAN Foundation were a part of the first part of the rally.

     

    On 14th August 2017, the car rally was flagged off from Chennai. Prior to the flag off, there was a press briefing. Dr. Suresh Shankar, Dr. Amaresan, Dr. P. Soundararajan, Dr. Sunil Shroff and Ms. Latha Kumaraswami and Dr. P. Balaji briefed the press on the disease burden in our society, the need of organs, deceased organ donation and role of Government in providing District Dialysis Units and promoting this cause through the establishment of TRANSTAN.   

     

    “I’m going to spread awareness in almost 30 cities and 80 villages by covering 9500 kms by road.” said Mr. Lourd Vijay. After the press briefing, all dignitaries flagged off the awareness drive and wished Mr. Vijay a grand success. The program ended with photo session.
