On March 2, 2026 – A highly impactful organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted at PM SHRI Telangana Model School and Junior College, Mujahidpur, Kulkecherla Mandal, Vikarabad District. The initiative was led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela under the aegis of MOHAN Foundation, with the objective of enhancing awareness about organ donation among school students.
Despite challenges such as space constraints and transportation issues, the programme was executed smoothly and efficiently. Three PowerPoint-based awareness sessions were conducted for students of Grades 6 and 10, reaching more than 390 students and faculty members without disturbing their academic schedule. The sessions were informative, interactive, and well appreciated by both students and staff.
The programme covered essential topics including:
• Meaning and types of organ donation
• Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
• Eye donation and its significance
• Kidney transplantation and possible post-transplant considerations
• Legal provisions under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994
• Importance of donor cards and role of MOHAN Foundation in India
• Addressing common myths and misconceptions
The students demonstrated remarkable curiosity and actively participated in discussions. They raised thoughtful questions, particularly regarding brain donation and the possible side effects after kidney transplantation. These meaningful interactions made the sessions intellectually enriching and reflected their growing awareness and maturity in understanding this important humanitarian cause.
The strong cooperation of the school administration and faculty members significantly contributed to the overall success of the programme. As a positive outcome of the session, 20 participants pledged their support for organ donation by presenting their donor cards.
This successful initiative at PM SHRI Telangana Model School and Junior College, Mujahidpur further reinforces the importance of continuous awareness efforts in nurturing informed, compassionate, and socially responsible future citizens committed to saving lives through organ donation.
