MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicles registration and driving license on 20th May 2016.
Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the need for organs, concept of brain death and its difference from coma. He explained -when and which and how organ donation happens. He also spoke of the organ donors of Nagpur and information sources helpline number and website.
It was a very interactive session. Approximately 40 drivers were present during the talk. 10 drivers took the consent form. They want to sign consent form after discussing with their family.
The drivers asked the following questions:-
What is the cause of brain tumor?
Can coma patient recover?
Why are the hospitals charging so much cost for Organ Transplant?
