Information Desk set up at Madras Medical Mission College of Health Sciences on Women’s Day

  • On 8th March 2019, MOHAN Foundation set up an information desk on Organ Donation for the students and faculty of the Madras Medical Mission College of Health Sciences, a unit of Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Mogappair Chennai. The desk was set up at the college premises as a part of Women’s Day celebrations. Mr. George Cherian, Director-Administrator, Madras Medical Mission Hospital was the Chief Guest at the event. The students had organized a few entertainment activities.

     

    Information brochures, registration forms, donor cards and green ribbons were available at the desk. Around 130 students and 10 faculties visited the stall. Ms. Ishwarya from MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Albin Joseph and Ms. Sunisha S.S, Interns at the Foundation and students of MMM College of Health Sciences were present at the stall to respond to queries and accept pledges of the visitors.

     

    Mr. Albin Joseph and Ms. Sunisha S.S explained the concepts of organ donation to desk visitors. These interactions helped people understand organ donation clearly. 30 students and faculty registered their names as organ donors and received donor cards.

    The following questions were answered:  

    • What is brain death and how to understand brain death?
    • Can organ donation happen only after death?
    • How to register as an organ donor?
    • How will the government know about my registration as organ donor?
    • Is MOHAN Foundation a private or government organization?

    One month Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme details were also explained to a few interested students.

     

    MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Dr. Deepa C Philip – Principal, Dr. Arunkumar S - Associate Professor and Mrs. Asha Latha - Administrative Officer of the College for providing the opportunity to set up the information desk.
